The Center for Security and Emerging Technology, located at Walsh School of Foreign Service is a research and advisory center that focuses on security and emerging technology. Center for Security and Emerging Technology

Georgetown University's Center for Security and Emerging Technology was recently awarded a $55 million grant by the Open Philanthropy Project. The grant will help to create the new think-tank. This group is devoted to policy research at a crossroads of national security and international. Jason Matheny was formerly director of the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity. Matheny's vision for policymakers is to better understand the security implications new technologies have on society and the possible threats they could pose.

Lead Analyst

You will be a Lead Analyst for the CSET Georgetown and conduct surveys on U.S.-China S&T Competition and global movement of emerging technology talent. You'll work with other CSET analysts, including Professor William Hannas, to design and execute survey projects. He is an active member the university's student council, in addition to his research at CSET. His research interests range from cybersecurity to foreign and domestic policy.


Director of Data Science

Catherine Aiken, Director of Data Science at CSET Georgetown is Catherine Aiken. She earned her B.A. She earned her B.A. in Mathematics from George Washington University and her Master's degree in Data Science at George Washington University. Before joining CSET, her previous roles included managing the communications department and conducting human-subjects research for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. She received her doctorate in political science from the University of Maryland and holds a B.A. Georgetown University.

Faculty

The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service invites applications for a position as the Gracias Family Chair in Security and Emerging Technology. This position can combine administrative and teaching responsibilities, and could be affiliated with Science, Technology, and International Affairs Program. How does AI work

Deep Learning is the latest AI invention. Deep learning (a type of machine-learning) is an artificial intelligence technique that uses neural network to perform tasks such image recognition, speech recognition, translation and natural language processing. Google developed it in 2012.
