ati news today

Yann LeCun is an accomplished French computer scientist. He works in the fields of computer vision, machine learning, and computational neuroscience. He is currently the Courant institute of mathematical sciences at New York University's Silver Professor. He is also the founder of JEPA and has published more than 180 technical papers.

Facebook's Chief Artificial Scientist (VP)

Yann Lun, Facebook's Chief AI Scientist and Vice President, is a highly-skilled machine learning scientist. Before joining Facebook in 2013, Yann LeCun was a Bell Labs researcher. He now works for the Applied Machine Learning group, which integrates AI in Facebook products. LeCun is an advocate for transparency in the AI community. He publishes frequently. He is also a National Academy of Engineering Member.

Facebook's AI lab has experienced rapid growth over recent years. The lab now has six locations and more than 100 employees. Yesterday, the company announced that it would double the number of researchers in its Paris research laboratory. It also plans to quadruple Paris's Ph.D. student population.

Silver professor at New York University

Yann leCun is a French Computer Scientist with an interest in machine learning. He is currently the Silver Lecturer at New York University’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences.

LeCun was awarded the ACM Turing Award, which recognizes his engineering and conceptual breakthroughs. He is also an active member of the National Academy of Engineering. If you would like to hire Yann LeCun as a speaker at your event, be sure to contact a speaker booking agency.

Author of more 180 technical papers

Yann leCun is a French scientist in computer science who works in machine learning, computer vision and computational neuroscience. He holds several academic appointments and is a silver professor at New York University's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. His research interests are in computer vision and neural network design.

LeCun is a highly cited computer scientist, who has been working in artificial Intelligence for the past twenty years. He is known for being one of the original creators of convolutional networks. He was also a co-creator and inventor of the DjVu imaging compression technology as well as the Lush programming languages. Yann has been recognized for his work in a number of fields and has published over 180 technical papers.

Founder of the joint embedding prescriptive architecture (JEPA).

JEPA is a new AI model. It uses energy-based models and learns high-level representations. This approach replaces contrastive and uses regularized techniques to extract high-level latent characteristics from inputs. It also discards irrelevant information. JEPA can infer information using a high dimension world model.

This allows you to align multiple datasets with no loss of individuality. It can also be extended to more than two datasets. This workflow can be seen in Fig. 1A.

Geoffrey Hinton’s influence on Hinton’s work

Yann LeCun is a computer scientist and VP of Facebook's AI research group. He also teaches in New York University. His research focuses on deep-learning and convolutional neural network design. He graduated from Pierre and Marie Curie University and was a postdoctoral fellow under Geoffrey Hinton. LeCun talks about his foundational work in convolutional neural networks and his advice for anyone interested in AI.

LeCun had a tremendous impact from Hinton. He mentored over thirty PhD students as well, many postdocs master's and undergraduate students. Many were leaders in their fields. Brendan Frey who was Hinton’s protege, completed his PhD at the University of Texas in 1997. He went on to become a leading advocate for deep-learning.

FAQ

What does AI mean for the workplace?

It will transform the way that we work. We can automate repetitive tasks, which will free up employees to spend their time on more valuable activities.

It will enhance customer service and allow businesses to offer better products or services.

It will allow us to predict future trends and opportunities.

It will enable companies to gain a competitive disadvantage over their competitors.

Companies that fail AI adoption will be left behind.

Why is AI so important?

It is predicted that we will have trillions connected to the internet within 30 year. These devices will cover everything from fridges to cars. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the combination of billions of devices with the internet. IoT devices will be able to communicate and share information with each other. They will also be able to make decisions on their own. Based on past consumption patterns, a fridge could decide whether to order milk.

It is expected that there will be 50 Billion IoT devices by 2025. This is a tremendous opportunity for businesses. But, there are many privacy and security concerns.

How does AI work

An artificial neural network is made up of many simple processors called neurons. Each neuron receives inputs form other neurons and uses mathematical operations to interpret them.

Neurons are organized in layers. Each layer has its own function. The raw data is received by the first layer. This includes sounds, images, and other information. Then it passes these on to the next layer, which processes them further. The last layer finally produces an output.

Each neuron has its own weighting value. This value is multiplied with new inputs and added to the total weighted sum of all prior values. If the number is greater than zero then the neuron activates. It sends a signal down to the next neuron, telling it what to do.

This continues until the network's end, when the final results are achieved.

Is there another technology that can compete against AI?

Yes, but not yet. Many technologies exist to solve specific problems. None of these technologies can match the speed and accuracy of AI.

Where did AI get its start?

In 1950, Alan Turing proposed a test to determine if intelligent machines could be created. He suggested that machines would be considered intelligent if they could fool people into believing they were speaking to another human.

John McCarthy wrote an essay called "Can Machines Thinking?". He later took up this idea. John McCarthy published an essay entitled "Can Machines Think?" in 1956. In it, he described the problems faced by AI researchers and outlined some possible solutions.

How will AI affect your job?

AI will take out certain jobs. This includes drivers of trucks, taxi drivers, cashiers and fast food workers.

AI will lead to new job opportunities. This includes data scientists, project managers, data analysts, product designers, marketing specialists, and business analysts.

AI will make it easier to do current jobs. This includes positions such as accountants and lawyers.

AI will improve efficiency in existing jobs. This applies to salespeople, customer service representatives, call center agents, and other jobs.

How to make Siri talk while charging

Siri can do many things, but one thing she cannot do is speak back to you. This is because your iPhone does not include a microphone. Bluetooth or another method is required to make Siri respond to you.

Here's how Siri can speak while charging.

  1. Under "When Using Assistive touch", select "Speak when locked"
  2. To activate Siri press twice the home button.
  3. Siri can speak.
  4. Say, "Hey Siri."
  5. Say "OK."
  6. Speak: "Tell me something fascinating!"
  7. Say, "I'm bored," or "Play some Music," or "Call my Friend," or "Remind me about," or "Take a picture," or "Set a Timer," or "Check out," etc.
  8. Say "Done."
  9. If you wish to express your gratitude, say "Thanks!"
  10. If you have an iPhone X/XS (or iPhone X/XS), remove the battery cover.
  11. Reinsert the battery.
  12. Reassemble the iPhone.
  13. Connect the iPhone to iTunes
  14. Sync the iPhone
  15. Allow "Use toggle" to turn the switch on.
